The Association has been advised that the Victoria Police Force ("Force") will seek expressions of interest in "secondment" to the Australian Federal Police to undertake policing at Melbourne Airport. This arrangement is pursuant to an agreement reached at COAG meeting on counter terrorism in Canberra.

The Association has met with representatives of the Force in order to better understand what is proposed and the terms and conditions for members seconded. At this stage the Force are unable to provide details of the proposal including issues such as duties, structure of the operation, interface with Australian Federal Police and Australian Protective Services. The Association has serious reservations about the proposal.

The Association advises members not to express interest at this stage as details of the terms and conditions for these secondments are unknown. Members are also strongly advised to not volunteer for these positions on secondment.

The Association is continuing to meet with the Force to gain sufficient detail to enable members to know what they may be expressing interest in.
