The Police Association has been informing our members of the draconian proposals of the Chief Commissioner in relation to the ‘Victoria Police Bill’ which is envisaged will replace the ‘Police Regulation Act 1958,’ and which would provide the Chief Commissioner with unprecedented power.
Continuing work place meetings are being held and the unanimous voice of the membership to date is one of complete opposition to the proposals of the Chief Commissioner.
In accordance with the unanimous voice of the membership, The Police Association has scheduled an emergency meeting of Association Delegates for 27 July 2005, at Dallas Brooks Hall, and has called for a Special General Meeting of all members and their families for Sunday, 7 August 2005, at Rod Laver Arena commencing at 11 am.
Further details, including the provision of bus transport, will be advised shortly.
The Association is determined to further the aims of our members and to resist the offensive changes proposed by the Chief Commissioner and the Government that would see our members treated as second class citizens, now and into the future.
Your attendance at the Special General Meeting is the opportunity for the views of you and your family to be heard.
