Industrial Action to Commence Friday 14 October

As a result of the Government's refusal to listen to the concerns of our members and their emergency service colleagues regarding its outrageous plan to merge ESSS with the heavily unfunded GSO scheme, industrial action will commence at 0700 hours on Friday 14 October 2005.

This announcement follows the unanimous support for this action by the mass meeting of emergency service workers held on 25 September and then by an historic joint meeting of the three union executives on 4 October .

The list of industrial bans comprising this action was also unanimously endorsed by the joint executive meeting.

IN THE DAYS LEADING UP TO FRIDAY 14 OCTOBER, TEAMS OF ASSOCIATION REPRESENTATIVES WILL VISIT MAJOR POLICE STATIONS AND OTHER KEY WORK-LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE STATE TO EXPLAIN THE INDUSTRIAL ACTION TO MEMBERS AND ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS. ASSOCIATION DELEGATES WILL ALSO BE CIRCULATING IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO MEMBERS LEADING UP TO FRIDAY.

Members are encouraged to refer any questions or queries with their delegate or by contacting the Association directly on 9495 6899 or toll-free on 1800 800 537 (outside metro).

WE CALL ON ALL MEMBERS TO SUPPORT THIS ACTION AND SEND A POWERFUL MESSAGE TO THE GOVERNMENT TO SHOW US THE RESPECT WE DESERVE BY NOT PUTTING OUR SUPER AT RISK!

Naturally, members will be updated on further developments on this crucial issue as they occur.
