SUPERANNUATION BREAKTHROUGH
Industrial Action Suspended

During talks over the last 24 hours which continued to late last night and resumed early this morning involving Government and the combined emergency services unions, agreement has been reached on a process to provide the guarantees needed to preserve the members' superannuation entitlements.
The Government has agreed to negotiate a common law deed of agreement that will maintain ESSS. This will be for current, retired and future members.
The Unions have given the Government until 21 October 2005 to finalise the deed to the Unions' satisfaction.
As a result of this breakthrough the industrial action is suspended until the deed is finalised.
The final agreed deed will be subject to endorsement at a special meeting of combined emergency services union.
Further information will follow.
