  • Become More Involved in Your Association - NOMINATIONS INVITED FOR ASSOCIATION DELEGATES

As is reported on page 24 of the September 2005 issue of The Police Association Journal, 2005 is an election year for all Association Delegate positions.

Nominations to become an Association Delegate are accordingly invited from members of The Police Association for their respective area of representation.

The nomination period will be open until Friday 14 October 2005. Successful candidates will commence their 2-year term on Monday 5 December 2005.

Delegates represent Association members within the area they work. Not only do they act as a conduit between members and the Association's executive and staff, but they are an essential part of the Associations decision making process.

Delegates are the 'first port of call' for many members, and can provide advice and assistance to Association members on a wide range of workplace issues. Delegates training and experience is well regarded developing useful skills to dealing with a variety of workplace issues. Newly elected delegates will receive training by way of a 3-day training course run by the Association and will be provided additional training if required.

To be eligible to nominate as an Association Delegate you must be a full financial member of The Police Association, be gazetted within the area of representation you seek to represent and have your nomination proposed and seconded by fellow Association members gazetted within the same area of representation.

Information notices plus nomination forms concerning these elections for each of the 52 Delegate areas of representation will soon be circulated for display/distribution within all police stations and work units.

Alternatively, nomination forms are available on page 24 of this month's Police Association Journal or they can be requested directly by calling the Association's Delegate Co-ordinator and Returning Officer, Wayne Gatt on 9495 6899 or 0417 120 207.
