  • ‘Divide and conquer’ pay offer inspired by WorkChoices / Association survey of members

As we reported in the previous edition of InBrief, our members will be condemned as the worst paid police in the country if the Force gets its way with its paltry EB pay offer.

As if this isn’t bad enough, the Force’s offer also draws inspiration from the new federal IR laws in the way it seeks to divide our members in an attempt to weaken your Association’s bargaining strength.

Your Association’s key strength lies in our one united collective. Having been instrumental in delivering successful pay outcomes in the past, it is this united collective which the Force is trying to dismantle by seeking to negotiate three separate agreements according to rank - in particular for Inspectors and Superintendents.

It is clear that the ‘divide and conquer’ strategy being adopted by the Force invokes the spirit of WorkChoices, by aiming to alter the current ‘level playing field’ in favour of the employer at the expense of members’ pay and conditions.

Members can rest assured that your Association will strongly resist such a divisive strategy. Our resistance cannot possibly fail if all members stay united.

Association survey of members

Members are advised that The Police Association has commissioned Essential Media Communications to conduct a telephone survey of a sample of our membership at their work locations.

The survey, to take place Wednesday 28 February to Saturday 3 March, is designed to ascertain the views of members on current key issues.

We would encourage members to participate in the very short survey if requested to do so, as the results will provide us with valuable information to enable us to deliver the outcomes you want.
