Overhaul to the Police Regulation Act – a bold grab for power at your expense

While members across Victoria continue to suffer under the strain of critical under-resourcing, the Chief Commissioner has been busy devising an overhaul of the Police Regulation Act. The amendments are designed to increase the powers of the Chief Commissioner while robbing members of their rights.

Here’s what the Chief Commissioner wants:

§        No merit-based appeals

§        No appeals against compulsory transfers

§        Limitations on secondary employment

§        Restricted possibility for review of Chief Commissioner’s confidence dismissals

§        No reinstatement for members if Chief Commissioner’s dismissals are found to be wrong

§        Mandatory pecuniary interest declarations.

It is up to us to protect the future of policing. Attend the rally at 11am, Tuesday 8 April at Rod Laver Arena and send a clear message that we will fight to preserve our rights.
