Leave embargo update

As we mentioned in the last edition of InBrief, members of the TMU, RTTU, RSTF and TDAS had recently been advised by Assistant Commissioner Ken Lay that leave may not be granted during what the Force consider to be ‘high-risk’ periods, including Easter, Christmas and New Year.

The Police Association was not consulted about this proposal and yesterday met with Assistant Commissioner Lay to address the issue.

Our discussions yesterday focussed on the reasons behind the leave embargo and measures to ensure that members are not disadvantaged.

The Police Association intends to pursue this issue, but is first seeking to gain further insight from the members involved.

To ensure that we provide the best possible representation for our members, The Police Association will be arranging a meeting of TMU, RTTU, RSTF and TDAS members next week. At the meeting, members will have an opportunity to share their views and discuss the proposal in detail.

The meeting will be held at:

11am

Wednesday 23 April 2008

Dallas Brooks Hall

(300 Albert Street, East Melbourne)

The Police Association is seeking on-duty status for the meeting and will be in contact with affected members directly to provide further details.

We strongly encourage members to attend.
