Revised Improper Associations PolicyThe Chief Commissioner has today advised members of proposed changes to the Improper Associations Policy. The Police Association has always had serious concerns about the introduction of the Improper Associations Policy and has strongly opposed it on the basis that it is both unworkable and invasive. Force Command has failed to consult with The Police Association about any aspect of the Improper Associations Policy and the revised version announced today has been no exception. This being the case, we are endeavouring to meet with the Force to discuss the proposed changes and in the meantime, advise members to consider the revised policy with extreme caution. It is the view of the Association that the proposed changes to the Improper Associations Policy are insignificant and still threaten to compromise the basic rights of police whilst showing no faith in the ability and integrity of members to do their job. The revised position is clearly a result of the Association and its members keeping the Chief Commissioner strongly accountable on this highly contentious issue. Paul Mullett Secretary
