Changes to leave loading payment arrangementsUnder new plans to move leave arrangements from a calendar year to financial year, the timing of the payment of members’ recreational leave loading will be subject to some change. Recreational leave loading is paid to all Police Association members (including PSOs and reservists) as an entitlement under the Workplace Agreement 2007. Members receive leave loading as a one-off payment. In the past, this payment was made on 1 February, but in future, the payment will occur on 1 August of each year. This change has come about because 2008 is a transitional year for leave accrual and leave loading payments. During 2008, leave accrual arrangements will shift from a calendar year to a financial year. Members would have received half of their annual leave loading entitlement with their pay on 14 February. A further full year’s entitlement will be paid to members on 14 August. This means that within a six month period, members will receive one-and-a-half times their annual leave loading. Members will not be disadvantaged by changes to the date of their leave loading payment and will continue to receive their full entitlement.
