No agreement on Senior Sergeant rotation proposal
The Police Association has become aware from a number of members that the Victoria Police Force is intending to rotate Senior Sergeants and then possibly Sergeants. Members have been led to believe by their senior managers that this is somehow pursuant to an agreement between the Victoria Police Force and The Police Association. There is NO agreement between the parties on this matter and the Association has received no formal notification of any such plan from the Force. It is The Police Association’s very strong view that this ‘informal proposal’ being mooted by the Force breaches an industrial agreement between the parties and subverts the Police Regulation Act by fundamentally undermining the principle of merit-based selection. The Association is absolutely appalled that this proposal is being signalled by the Force with absolutely no consultation. Members can be assured that the Association is seeking legal advice on this matter and will closely monitor the situation to ensure that our members’ rights are stridently upheld. |
