Your clothing allowance entitlementsIt has come to the Association’s attention that some members have been incorrectly advised by the Force about their uniform allowance entitlements. Members have been told that in accordance with the Workplace Agreement, they are no longer entitled to the uniform allowance and daily plain clothes allowance at the same time. Consequently, the Force’s software has been programmed to deduct the uniform allowance at a daily rate in cases where a member also claims and receives the daily plain clothes allowance. This is incorrect. According to the Agreement, any member who is required to have and maintain a uniform and is also directed from time to time to work in civilian clothes, is entitled to a daily plain clothes allowance for each day of such work in addition to the uniform allowance. This is covered in section 13.6.2 of the Victoria Police Workplace Agreement 2007. The Police Association has brought this matter to the attention of the Victoria Police Force and they are currently in the process of rectifying the problem. The Force will reimburse the uniform allowance to members in instances where is has been deducted incorrectly. Members are encouraged to review their pay slips to ensure that they have been paid their correct entitlements. The Workplace Agreement is available via the Industrial Relations section of our website, www.tpav.org.au to members who would like to read section 13.6 of the Agreement pertaining to clothing allowances.
