TPA seeking legal advice over ‘Improper Associations’ policyThe Police Association has been inundated with feedback from members in relation to the Force’s ‘Improper Associations’ policy. Acting on the sentiment of members who are staunchly opposed to the policy and the risk it poses to their privacy and basic human rights, The Police Association is seeking advice about the legality of the Chief Commissioner’s Instruction. We are currently investigating whether the ‘Improper Associations’ policy offends a range of legislation designed to protect members’ workplace and civil rights including the Human Rights Act, Privacy Act and the Certified Agreement. The Police Association will continue to oppose this policy and will do everything in its power to ensure that the implementation of this draconian and unworkable policy is stopped. We will keep members updated as this issue progresses.
