Mass meeting / rally of members imminent

It is becoming plain that members have had enough over a number of issues affecting them and their families.

The time has come to make a stand over chronic staff shortages, the Force’s reluctance to properly implement EB issues, unfair senior sergeant rotations and the draconian Improper Associations policy. In addition, we are also contending with proposed amendments to the Police Regulation Act and a host of other Victoria Police Force and OPI-related issues that threaten to erode members’ rights.

The Police Association will soon schedule a mass meeting of members, their families and the wider community to gather a collective response and discuss resolutions to these matters.

A recent conference attended by Police Association delegates mandated The Police Association to take this course of action – it is time to send a clear message of our extreme dissatisfaction to the state government and force command.

Members will be provided with specific details of the mass meeting / rally following the next Association executive meeting on 1 April 2008.

Leading up to this event will be a series of workplace visits across the state, the scheduling of which will also be announced shortly.
