ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!The Police Association to hold rally/march
Following overwhelming and unprecedented feedback in relation to a range of issues, it is clear that members have had enough. A number of issues are threatening members’ rights and constraining their ability to do their jobs properly, including: § the ‘Improper Associations’ policy; § chronic shortage of front line police on the street; § an unaccountable Office of Police Integrity; § the Chief Commissioner’s confidence dismissals without appeal rights; § proposed harsh amendments to the Police Regulation Act & § the transfer of any member to any place, at any time. 11am, Tuesday 8 April 2008
Rod Laver Arena
To preserve our rights, your attendance is essential! We will have the full support of the Emergency Services Federation at the meeting and have also entered into discussions with the Community and Public Sector Union to discuss their possible involvement. It is our intention to march to Parliament House after the meeting where we will let those inside know that we are serious about our rights. We will no longer be prepared to be flogged to death on the front line. We will not allow our rights as police officers to be eroded. We will not be treated like second-class citizens. We strongly encourage all members and their families to attend this important and unprecedented event in the interests of themselves, their families and the advancement of our profession. Look out for further editions of InBrief for more information, including transport arrangements and details of a series of member meetings and to be conducted in the week leading up to the rally/march.
