Herald Sun police survey – Your right to know

An overwhelming 3459 members recently completed the Herald Sun police survey. The survey asked a range of questions relating to your role as police officers, including questions about the Chief Commissioner and the secretary of The Police Association.

The results of the Herald Sun survey were published early last month and confirmed members’ strong views about a range of issues, especially the need for increased police resources.

Since then, we have received overwhelming feedback from members who have raised concern that the result to one particular question was never made public.

“Should Simon Overland be Victoria’s next Chief Commissioner of Police?”

The Police Association is currently pursuing with the Herald Sun why members’ response to this question failed to be appear among the other published survey results. Similarly, the Association’s advice to members is that they should also pursue an explanation with the paper.
