Secretary position advertised

The process for appointing a new secretary of The Police Association has formally commenced with the Association advertising nationally in the weekend Age and Australian.

This follows an announcement earlier this year from the current secretary that after being offered an extension of his contract, he would not be seeking this extension once it expires in March 2009.

The Police Association secretary who serves as the CEO has an operational role to manage and implement the policy direction on behalf of the membership and tend to the day-to-day running of the Association including management of it’s 30 staff. The role’s objective includes cultivating working relations within the broader union movement and the community

The Association is seeking expressions of interest from passionate, driven & committed individuals with a desire to lead, manage and represent a high profile industry body. Experience gained from the policing services will be well regarded, as will experience from union bodies. Skills that are imperative in this role include stakeholder management, communications management & high level intense negotiation ability. The appointment is a highly influential role in Victoria and requires immense commitment & dedication. Applications close 6 June 2008.
