No leave embargo for TMU and other traffic members

Following negotiations with the Force, The Police Association has been advised that a leave embargo will not be imposed on members attached to TMU and other traffic units.

In April 2008, members of the TMU, RTTU, RSTF and TDAS received correspondence from the Force advising of a proposed ‘leave embargo’ during peak periods including the Queen’s Birthday weekend, Easter and Christmas/New Year.

Acting upon members’ strong opposition to a leave embargo, The Police Association began negotiations with the Force to address the issue.

As a result of these negotiations, the Force clarified that it never intended to cancel leave for TMU, RTTU, RSTF and TDAS members. The Force confirmed that members will continue to adopt appropriate rostering practices to ensure there is an adequate police presence on the roads during peak periods.

The Force outlined that members’ applications for leave will be considered taking into account the service delivery needs of the Region as well as any individual circumstances that may arise.

The Police Association is pleased that this matter has been resolved and that through its negotiations, has managed to secure the retention of current leave arrangements.
