Leave entitlements protected

The Police Association has successfully protected the leave entitlements for members on maternity leave.

The Police Association recently had discussions with the Force stemming from concerns about the accrual of leave entitlements for members on maternity leave.

The Victoria Police Force held the position that when members take maternity leave at half pay for 28 weeks, other forms of leave such as recreation and long service leave should only accrue at the full time equivalent of 14 weeks.

The Police Association successfully presented the view that other forms of leave should accrue for the full leave period of 28 weeks.

The Victoria Police Force will now ensure that members on maternity leave will continue to accrue other forms of leave based on the entire 28 week period that they continue to receive pay.

This will ensure that members will not be disadvantaged by having their other leave entitlements reduced whilst on maternity leave.
