After four years campaigning by the Police Association, its delegates and health and safety representatives, the Force has agreed that OC foam should be made available to all operational members. It is expected that the foam will be distributed at the next round of operational safety tactics training beginning in January 2008. |
In addition, lobbying from the Association has encouraged the Force to amend the policy for the use of OC spray/foam. Its use will now be allowed in situations "where a member believes on reasonable grounds a violent and serious physical confrontation is imminent."
The roll-out of OC Foam to all operational members, coupled with this policy change will provide significant benefits to our members.
